in the balance this morning. today, city college of san francisco turns accreditation report, the school needs a passing grade to stay open. katie marzullo joins us live from the newsroom with a college divided. >> everyone wants city college to stay open. 90,000 students are counting on it and faculty and staff want to keep their jobs. the groups cannot agree on how to keep the doors open. that is the administration versus the students and the staff on the the deadline they protested and chanted and shouted. the commission for community and junior colleges put city college on notice back in judgment saying they had too many problems with leadership and fiscal plans. the college has been making changes ever since and a spokesman says they have stream laned the administration and added more financial accountability. >> the accreditation reform process is unwinding many, many years of behavior that just absolutely needed to be changed or could not be afforded. >> the situation and all about equity. >> students and staff say this were alternates to the cutbacks including $16 million city college

. it will be held at 1:00 this afternoon. ktvu has learned a former san francisco lab technician will plead guilty to a drug charge. that plea is expected in federal court this morning. the attorney for debra madden says a plea deal has been reached and madden will plead guilty to a simple charge of possession. madden was accused of stealing cocaine from a police station. >>> the one way loop into downtown is being put into place at 8:00 tonight. foothill boulevard will become a oneway street starting where jackson street and mission boulevard meet. from the foothill the loop will turn left on to a street and left on mission back toward jackson. the loop is part of the $100 million route 238 corridor repaving project. >>> time is 4:35. turning out to be a pretty busy morning on interstate 580. how does it look? >> we do have a problem, brian, and pam. we have a big rig fire. i want to put it on the map for you. eastbound 580 at airway three lanes are blocked with this truck fire. westbound 580 is the commute direction but obviously this is going to have an effect even though it is nice and early.

this easter sunday gathering at san francisco's highest peak for a sunrise service. we're live on mount davidson with more. >> reporter: good morning, carolyn. that sunrise service here ended just about an hour ago. now we have mount davidson to ourselves. the ceremony was majestic. we're at the canopy of trees and it was at the base of this cross, san francisco's highest peak. it began with bagpipers. take a listen. ♪ hundreds of people, families, friends, religious and spiritual made the pilgrimage through the woods and rugged terrain to begin their southeast sunday in prayer and celebration. they started coming about 5:00 this morning. the morning's sunrise service was the 91st anniversary of the early morning tradition. for many, it's an annual journey to mount davidson. the area residents and a family from san diego came here to take in the splendor. >> a wonderful time of worship with everyone coming together with other churches to celebrate jesus christ risen, it's amazing. i'm grateful to be here. >> coming here is going to be a great experience because we're close to nature,

.leading off san francisco's saint patrick's parade this morning. following behind.a contingent of the city's finest and wide variety of fire trucks. thousands lined market street for a parade that had more than one hundred and fifty different groups and floats, many reflecting the strong support this parade has always received from the cities uniformed services. san francisco the police department and the fire department, i mean there's a whole bunch of irish people.that's all there used to be on the police and fire department years ago in san francisco which is now very mixed just like the city is, which is great but they are still strong supporters and they have a ball, everyone has fun at this parade. thousands came out to see the parade, and as many as two thousand people marched in the parade itself.in this the 162nd san francisco st paddy's day parade. here in the bay area.police are reminding drivers to be safe and sober this saint extra c-h-p officers will be on patrol throughout the weekend. and there will be several d- u-i checkpoints. here are a few of them. in san rafael.the ch

unconscious from a house fire last night in san francisco is in the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the fire broke out in the diamond heights neighborhood shortly after 9 last night. a charred mattress was left in the street. flames were put out quickly and the fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. >> a san francisco club is closed this weekend of a yesterday morning's shooting that left three people wounded. it happened at 330 rich nightclub in south beach. one man remains in critical condition. witnesses say dozens of shots were fired by one or more gunmen after an altercation. police collected more than 50 pieces of evidence from the crime scene that stretched from inside the club, up the alley, to a parking lot on brannon street. the city entertainment commission ordered the club closed for the remainder of the weekend. >>> san leandro police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. authorities say a man was killed friday night when he tried to defend his mother-in-law. the woman was unloading her car on harbor way around 9:30 when so
